Job Description

The purpose of the role is to :

  • Support and assist the Head of Ethical and Sustainable Value Chains in their role to implement, direct and define, according to changing business requirements, a new responsible sourcing programme
  • Build the De Beers ‘integrity’ brand through supporting the establishment of the programme requirements for responsible sourcing for other products in the jewellery supply chain that is aligned with the Best Practice Principles Programme and other industry standards
  • Establish new processes, policies and approaches; including criteria and documentation and embed into the BPP Programme.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the delivery of the BPP Assurance Programme and the maintenance and elevation of the BPP SMART System.
  • Support and deliver due diligence processes which seek to address money laundering and reputational risks as identified by the business or business units.

Responsible for managing a team of 2 people and their career development.

  • 5-7 years experience in managing value chain initiatives.
  • Proven experience in programme and project management.
  • Knowledge of the downstream diamond pipeline to consumer level is essential
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills is essential
  • Sound understanding of due diligence requirements for counterparties, both in the context of anti-money laundering as well as reputational and ethical integrity.
  • Previous experience of the diamond industry including practical diamond skills – both rough and polished – an advantage
  • Sound knowledge of business principles and international standards relevant to the industry (e.g. human rights and anti-discrimination laws, labour law)is essential
  • Numerate with good presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of local business practices in the major Diamond cutting centres’
  • Strong Knowledge of the Responsible jewellery Council requirements


  • Degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline is essential, or sufficient work experience in the field is essential.
