About the job

Greater London Authority (GLA)

Are you passionate about making a difference in tackling the climate emergency? Do you want to play a crucial role in helping London deliver its 2030 net zero target and help deliver the Mayor’s manifesto commitment to develop a green finance facility for London? Do you want to play a role in accelerating private finance into London’s environmental priorities? Then the Greater London Authority is the place for you.

Based within the Climate Change team, within the Good Growth directorate, you will support delivery of a key Mayoral objective. You will lead the delivery of the Mayor’s green finance programme, supporting London’s net zero 2030 target.

You will be responsible for helping to realise the initial ambition of securing over £500 million of investment in climate actions through green financing mechanisms, supported by £90 million of City Hall funding initially. You will be working closely with London Treasury limited, the GLA group, London boroughs, government, and the UK Cities Climate Investment Commission to drive a pipeline of bankable projects.

With Treasury, you will identify priorities, develop financing mechanisms and business models, as well as managing a growing pipeline of projects supporting the Mayor’s environmental objectives. You will also be responsible for managing three staff within the team, responsible for identifying and managing a sustainable pipeline of projects across the GLA group and strategic partners.

You will have strong programme leadership skills and a successful track record of delivery of public sector investment programmes, with a high level of experience giving strategic advice on complex or sensitive issues to senior stakeholders.

This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
